About this digital tool
A VAT calculator adds value added tax (TVSH) to a price that does not include it, or removes it from a price that already includes it. Enter the amount, choose the rate and the tool gives the taxable base, the VAT amount and the total. The formulas are simple: price with VAT = price without VAT × (1 + rate), and price without VAT = price with VAT ÷ (1 + rate). In Albania the standard VAT rate is 20%, while reduced rates of 6% and 10% apply to certain goods and services, and 0% applies to exempt supplies. The tool helps with invoices, shop prices, online sales and quick checks by accountants. Results are estimates; the rate that applies to a specific supply should be confirmed under the VAT law or with the tax administration.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add 20% VAT to a price?
Multiply the price without VAT by 1.20. For example, 10,000 lek without VAT becomes 12,000 lek with VAT, where 2,000 lek is the VAT itself.
How do I remove VAT from a price that already includes it?
Divide the price by 1 plus the rate. For 12,000 lek with 20% VAT, the price without VAT is 12,000 ÷ 1.20 = 10,000 lek.
What are the VAT rates in Albania?
The standard rate is 20%. Reduced rates of 6% and 10% apply to certain categories, and 0% applies to exempt or zero-rated supplies. The official list is in the VAT law and on tatime.gov.al.
What is the taxable base?
The taxable base is the price without VAT. VAT is calculated on that base, and the base plus VAT gives the total the customer pays.
