About this digital tool

A net salary calculator shows how much of your gross pay reaches your bank account. From the gross salary it first deducts the employee's share of social and health insurance contributions. Then it calculates personal income tax using the progressive brackets in Albania: 0% on the first 30,000 lek per month, 13% on the part between 30,000 and 200,000 lek, and 23% on the part above 200,000 lek. Each rate applies only to its own band, so a raise never reduces your take-home pay. The tool is useful when you compare job offers, plan a monthly budget or check a payslip. Results are estimates based on the rules in force, so confirm the final figures with your employer, an accountant or the tax authority at tatime.gov.al.

How to use

  1. Enter your gross monthly salary.
  2. Choose the options that apply to you, such as the type of contract.
  3. Read the contributions and income tax that are deducted.
  4. Compare the net amount with your payslip.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between gross and net salary?

Gross salary is the amount written in the contract before deductions. Net salary is what you receive after social and health contributions and income tax are subtracted.

Is tax paid on every lek of salary?

No. Income tax is progressive. The first 30,000 lek per month is taxed at 0%, the next band at 13%, and only the part above 200,000 lek at 23%.

How do I get the gross salary from a net amount?

Work backwards: because the tax is progressive, a simple percentage does not work. Change the gross amount until the net result matches the figure you need.

Why can my payslip differ from the result?

Allowances, overtime, bonuses, the contribution base set by the employer and changes in the rules during the year can all create differences.
