About this digital tool
The down payment calculator works out how much money you need to pay upfront when buying a house, car or property with a loan, and how much is left to finance. Enter the purchase price and the down payment percentage, or the other way round, the amount you have and the tool finds the percentage. The loan amount is the price minus the down payment.
A higher down payment means a smaller loan, a lower payment and less total interest, but it requires more savings upfront. Banks usually set a minimum down payment and may offer better terms for a larger one. Don't forget extra costs such as the notary and registration. The result is an estimate.
How to use
- Enter the price of the property or item.
- Set the down payment percentage.
- See the down payment amount and the loan needed.
Frequently asked questions
How much should the down payment be?
It depends on the type of loan. For a house: usually 20–30%. For cars: 10–30%. Some products accept 0%, but on harsher terms.
How is the down payment calculated?
Multiply the price by the down payment percentage. For a 10,000,000 lek apartment and a 20% down payment, the down payment is 2,000,000 lek and the loan is 8,000,000 lek.
How does the down payment affect the monthly payment?
A bigger down payment reduces the loan amount, so it lowers the monthly payment and total interest. Try different percentages with the loan calculator.
Can I use the calculator when I have a fixed amount?
Yes, enter the amount you have and the price to find which percentage it corresponds to, then see how big a loan you need for the rest.
