About this digital tool
The currency converter lets you quickly switch between the Lek (ALL), Euro (EUR), Dollar (USD), Pound (GBP) and other currencies, using reference rates updated from the international market. Choose the source and target currency, enter the amount and get the converted value, together with the rate used.
It is useful for travellers, for people making online purchases in foreign currency, for the diaspora sending or receiving money and for businesses invoicing in euros. The rate is a reference: a bank or exchange office applies a spread between the buy and sell price and may charge fees, so the real amount you receive can differ slightly. The result is an estimate.
How to use
- Enter the amount you want to convert.
- Choose the currency you convert from and to.
- See the converted value and the other rates.
Frequently asked questions
How often are the rates updated?
Rates update automatically several times a day. For the last 30 days' trend, see the 'Exchange Rate Today' page.
Why does the rate differ from the bank's?
These are reference market rates. Banks and exchange offices add a margin (buy/sell spread), so their price is slightly different.
How do I convert an amount from euro to lek?
Multiply the amount by the EUR/ALL rate. For example, if the rate is 100, 50 euro is 5,000 lek (illustrative example, not a real rate).
What is the difference between the buy and sell rate?
The buy rate is what the bank pays you when you sell it currency; the sell rate is what you pay when you buy. The difference between them is the bank's or exchange office's profit.
Can I convert into currencies other than the lek?
Yes, you can choose any currency pair from the list, e.g. euro to dollar or pound to lek.
